Description

Cheese and sausage flower buns are soft, golden rolls filled with melty cheese and smoky sausage slices, shaped like blooming flowers for a fun and delicious twist on savory baking.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • ¾ cup warm milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 3 tbsp butter, softened

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup cooked sausage, sliced

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or blend)

Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk


Instructions

  • Mix yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Let sit 5–10 minutes.

  • Add flour, salt, egg, and butter. Knead until smooth and soft.

  • Let dough rise for 1 hour until doubled.

  • Divide dough into 8–10 balls, flatten each into a circle.

  • Add cheese in the center, surround with sausage slices.

  • Snip or shape into a flower. Let rise 30 minutes.

  • Brush with egg wash, sprinkle toppings if desired.

  • Bake at 350°F for 18–22 minutes until golden and cooked through.

Notes

  • Don’t overstuff or buns may open while baking

  • Try adding herbs or garlic to the dough for extra flavor
