Description

A cozy Amish-style hamburger steak bake with juicy beef patties smothered in creamy mushroom sauce and baked under a layer of melty cheese. Perfect comfort food for family dinners.


Ingredients

For the Patties:

  • lbs ground beef

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • ½ onion, minced

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 tbsp oil (for searing)

For the Sauce:

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

  • ½ cup beef broth

  • ⅓ cup sour cream or heavy cream

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • Pepper to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or cheese blend


Instructions

  1. Mix all patty ingredients in a bowl. Form into 6–8 patties.

  2. Sear patties in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side. Place in a 9×13 baking dish.

  3. In a bowl, mix soup, broth, sour cream, and seasonings. Pour over patties.

  4. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.

  5. Uncover and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until bubbly.

  6. Let rest 5 minutes and serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.

  • Add mushrooms, onions, or fresh herbs for extra flavor.
